Are you a funny person? Metacafe is hosting an online video contest – we’re seeking original comedy videos… stand-up comedy video or other comedic performance by a person, such as a joke, anecdote or comedy sketch. Here’s a brief rundown of the contest details:
- Videos must be at least 15 seconds long, but 2 minutes max.
- Submissions close on August 6th at 11:59 p.m. PT.
- One winner – based on VideoRank – will receive a weekend for 2 in LA
- $1000 American Airlines gift card
- Two (2) nights at The Standard Hotel in Hollywood, King room
- $150 gift card good for redemption at BOA Steakhouse/Sushi Roku/Katana
- 2 tickets for a show at The Comedy Store
- $500 cash

Metacafe is pleased to announce MetaFest 2008!
MetaFest is a juried online and offline film festival presenting the best in creative and contemporary short-form video entertainment.We’re looking for video, film and digital media submissions of 10 minutes or less that are narrative, humorous, artistic, dramatic, animated, documentary, mockumentary, music, experimental, alternative or avant-garde in any genre, format or style.Selected films will have a theatrical premiere in San Francisco in November 2008, be showcased on Metacafe.com for six months, and be screened at dozens of “microcinemaâ€? events across the U.S. and around the world through the first half of 2009. Did we mention there will be $10,000 in prizes, too?

How to use PLYfx?
PLYfx allows you to view and create a whole new world of additional and interactive content on top of web videos.The PLYfx menu is located on the top left hand corner of the screen(rollover the screen to display it) and is your invitation to create and manage your own additions (PLYs) to a video as well as to view PLYs that others have created for the same video.To create a new PLY on a video, click “Create New”. The video player will switch to creation mode. If you’re not signed in, you will be asked to sign in/register before you can create your own PLYs. Once in creation mode, you can add bubbles (like a pop-up video), edit them, format them and time them along the video as you please. You can also add text, links, clip-art, your own images, subtitles and more.
So choose any Metacafe video you wish and begin adding PLYfx to it now!
All you fans of campy horror and sci-fi movies will be happy to hear that Metacafe has teamed up with Full Moon Features to bring you some of the funniest, scariest, most entertaining short video clips from the extensive Full Moon catalog. Charles Band and team have built a cult following over the years with franchises such as Puppet Master, Subspecies and Trancers — as well as recent titles including The Gingerdead Man and Dangerous Worry Dolls. The official Full Moon Horror channel will be launching soon on Metacafe. Stay tuned…
In the meantime, wanted to let you know about the rapidly approaching third-annual Full Moon Horror Road Show. Charles will take the stage in 12 cities around the U.S. between May 24 and June 22. The show will feature live special effects demonstrations, rare film clips, surprise celebrity guest appearances, original puppet and doll auctions, and the chance for audience members to participate in this unique festival of horror, fun and doll-on-puppet attacks.
