Kipkay Claims Crown as King of the Confessions

Yes, he can do everything.

Metacafe fans know Kipkay as the master of the how-to videos, with his distinctive voice explaining how to do everything from hacking a 9-volt battery to escaping handcuffs. Now he’s got one more title to add to his resume: Winner of the Café Confidential Contest!

Kipkay’s story about his failed flirtation with a life of crime, Condom Machine Adventure, claimed First Prize and a $1500 American Apparel Shopping Spree. In addition, his video scored Producer Rewards with over 36,000 views to date.

Second Prize and a $1000 American Apparel Shopping Spree went to Zack Scott for his video Shaved Pubic Hair. While setting new standards in “too much information,” Zack’s story also claimed Producer Rewards with over 23,000 views to date. In addition, this prolific Producer scored 4 Fourth Prizes with his other stories, Sex at a Drive In, Drive By at Work, Truck Stop Transvestite, and Sex Change Uncle.

Also in the category of “too much info” was the ever-shameless Nalts, whose Toilet Date story claimed Third Prize and a $500 American Apparel Shopping Spree.

Finally, a total of 11 producers claimed Fourth Prizes and $100 American Apparel Gift Certificates (in alphabetical order by name of producer):

Before you leave home or work, just download your favorite Producer Rewards videos from your computer to your phone — it’s easy and free. Here’s all you need:

Hi guys,

I’d like to give y’all a quick update about a few changes we’ve made to the site. First of all, and probably most importantly, we have implemented email verification. This means that from now on, anyone who registers will need to verify their email address. Hopefully this will clean up our site just a little more (and by the way, have y’all noticed how almost all the spam is gone now that we’ve implemented the new spam filters?).

Also, we have added another section to Today catalog. You can now browse videos that were Recently Popular. These are videos from the past few days that have a high rank, as well as some Metacafe classics from before. If a video is released to Recently Popular, it will NOT appear on the Highest Rated pages since it is a video that has been previously released, but it is a second chance to see videos you may have missed the first time, or liked a lot and would love to see again. Before you ask, the videos are randomly selected by our system and not by staff recommendations.

We have also added a new button to the footer – the Podcasts are back! You can now receive Metacafe’s top videos to your iPod!

Finally, we have slightly modified the location of the related links on videos. Now they appear within the box beneath the video for faster and clearer access.

Because of terribly unfortunate events involving a fatal accident, this year’s Gumball 3000 Rally has been cancelled. In sympathy with the victims and their families, Metacafe has decided to close this contest and online celebration.  Although we will not be accepting additional submissions, we will send out wristbands for items already submitted.

Good news, everyone!

We have rolled out a few more additions to our spam filter yesterday and I am proud to say we have gotten rid of a lot more spam.

One of the new features in the spam filter, that you should know about, is that any comments with more than 2 links will be automatically filtered out. This alone takes care of an enormous amount of the spam on the site.

There are a couple more things we have in our new spam filter that together has helped get rid of a lot of the spam. We are working on further perfecting our spam filter, so things will hopefully get even better.

I hope this small feature will help make everyone’s Metacafe experience that much better. Stay tuned for more changes that will be coming up in the next few weeks – I’ll keep you updated.
