For all you aspiring rock stars out there, here’s your chance at music video fame and fortune! Metacafe and MTV Virtual Worlds have just launched the first-ever “MTV’s Virtual Worlds Virtual Music Video Contest – check it out at www.metacafe.com/virtualworlds.

Get your creative juices flowing with audio tracks from some of the hottest up-and-coming bands, video clips and online editing tools – supplied by MTV and Metacafe – and direct and film your own music video in one of MTV Networks’ seven virtual worlds. Contest submissions can be uploaded to Metacafe from now until December 4, 2007.

Entries will initially be evaluated using Metacafe’s VideoRankTM system, which gauges each viewer’s reaction to every video and automatically exposes audience favorites. The top 10 finalists will be evaluated by a panel of MTV judges on creativity and originality, technical execution and overall impression. One grand prize winner will receive a Sony Vegas Pro 8 professional video/audio editing and DVD creation software package, and two first-place winners will receive $2,000 virtual MTV bucks.

Featured artists and songs include: Saves the Day – “Can’t Stay the Same;� A Cursive Memory – “Everything;� Dannel Vonn Dillon – “Worn and of Plastic;� Dr. Manhattan – “Big Chomper;� Grayskul – “Us.�

It’s official! Director’s Cut, our new channel celebrating the art of storytelling and craft of filmmaking, is live on the site. Check it out at www.metacafe.com/directors.

We want your help in populating the channel, which features narrative-driven videos of high production value in the categories of: Comedy, Animation, Action & Drama, Documentary.

See something you like? Nominate it for inclusion! Just click the “Nominate for Director’s Cut� button that now appears on the video pages of Producer Rewards videos and candidates. Or, if you make a video that fits the bill, submit and nominate it yourself. Metacafe editors will evaluate these nominations weekly and showcase the best of the best.

As most of you have probably noticed, we updated the site with a couple new features.

First of all, when you log in to the site, you will see the newest videos by the people you subscribed to. Next to that, you can also see some recommended channels.

We’ve also added a new search function, and you can now search the channels for anything that interests you. Just click your search term in the search bar and see all the channels that relate to your keyword.

Another cool feature we’ve added is to the regular search function. Now, in addition to video results, you can also see channel matches on the right side of the page:
