New on Metacafe – PLYfx
Finally, after a long anticipation, Metacafe is proud to present the new PLYfx feature. With PLYfx you can now add bubbles, text, images, animations, subtitles, links and more on any Metacafe video… so don’t wait – start “FX-ingâ€? now!
(The PLYfx creation feature is available to registered Metacafe users).

PLYfx allows you to view and create a whole new world of additional and interactive content on top of web videos. The PLYfx menu is located on the top left hand corner of the screen(rollover the screen to display it) and is your invitation to create and manage your own additions (PLYs) to a video as well as to view PLYs that others have created for the same video. To create a new PLY on a video, click “Create New”. The video player will switch to creation mode. If you’re not signed in, you will be asked to sign in/register before you can create your own PLYs. Once in creation mode, you can add bubbles (like a pop-up video), edit them, format them and time them along the video as you please. You can also add text, links, clip-art, your own images, subtitles and more.
So choose any Metacafe video you wish and begin adding PLYfx to it now!

Interesting concept. Are there any more examples on MetaCafe other than just these two? When I embed the video on another site, say my blog, does the PlyFX stuff come with the video so it works on the site where it is embedded? I tried the embed code of one I did and did not seem to pull over the functionality.

Hmm… that’s pretty annoying guys
I’ve seen quite a few sites use this tech and it’s never been a winning proposition. It’s like watching a movie with a bunch of kids running in front of your TV.

[...] MC: It is a really cool new feature! PLYfx is a creativity toolkit that enables Metacafe viewers to personalize their entertainment experiences by adding dialog bubbles, photos, webcam video, clip art, subtitles and more to videos. Once you’ve personalized a video, you can save it with a unique URL and even send it to your friends directly from the Metacafe video player. PLYfx is currently in beta testing, but anyone can check it out by clicking the “Enable PLYfx” button embedded in this Metacafe blog post. [...]
